Electrochemical grafting of aryl diazonium salts in deep eutectic solvents

Deep eutectic solvents are seen as a new class of green and cheap in electrochemical processes. Many deposition techniques have been reported the literature mainly focusing on metal electrodeposition electro-polymerization. Here, we report for first time efficient electro-grafting aryl diazonium salts carbon surfaces using ethaline an example natural biodegradable deep solvent. Three different tested, namely 4-iodophenyldiazonium ion, 4-carboxymethylphenyl ion 4-ethynylphenyldiazonium ion. Effect concentration, potential studied relation to electrode blocking behavior toward redox probes solution deposited organic films thickness. Post-functionalization with active moieties is demonstrated such electro-grafted layer show their usefulness.
